Biblically Based Treatment

Here on the Treasure Coast, Cornerstone Ministries has been providing professional Christian counseling services to individuals and families since 2004. What was once started in a local church as a professional counseling ministry, Cornerstone Ministries is built on a foundation that seeks to meet not only one’s spiritual needs, but their emotional, mental health, and relational needs as well - all within a biblically based worldview. 

Facilitated by Dr. Jennifer Bartholomew EdD, LMHC, a Board-Certified Professional Christian Counselor, Cornerstone Ministries “is about meeting each individual where they are, without judgment, in order to facilitate change, increase insight and promote healing. Issues are approached with psychological treatments that are proven effective and are also biblically based.” 

Dr. Bartholomew explained that individuals are often pulled away from the truth with “junk psychology, distorted faith, and an anti Judeo-Christian culture. “We are all broken and fall short. Only the God who created us can offer lasting hope and freedom.”

Individual Therapy and Marriage/Couple Counseling

Services provided by Cornerstone Ministries include individual therapy and marriage/couple counseling. A host of educational and therapeutical techniques are used to address specific areas such as premarital/marital counseling, anxiety, depression, anger, grief/loss, abuse/trauma, addictions/codependency, relationship difficulties, and child/parenting issues. 

Dr. Bartholomew has nearly 30 years of experience in providing these services to families on the Treasure Coast. She shared that what she enjoys most about what she does “is helping others gain a better understanding of who they are, how they’re broken, and how to find healing and freedom.” 

Helping others achieve healing and freedom through Cornerstone Ministries inspires Dr. Bartholomew to reach others in need. She’s also inspired by “future hope”, stating, “I know this life is very temporary (and often difficult) but eternity holds something extraordinary for me because I believe in the God who created all of us. I also have a relationship with him through Jesus Christ.”

The most arduous battles, Dr. Bartholomew believes, are “between our ears and not our circumstances”. In her practice, she aims to assist individuals in focusing on “what they know to be true, and not what they feel.” In that way, their lives can be changed for the better. She continued, “I desire for everyone to know how much God loves them and has great things planned and purposed for them even if they can’t see it right now.” 

Dr. Bartholomew, an Indiana native, has been a Florida resident since 1984. She has been married to her husband and best friend of 35 years and they share two wonderful sons who are now adults. Dr. Bartholomew and her husband are active members of their church and “share a love of cats, camping, exploring historical sites, wandering off the beaten path to find small towns and local artisans, and just taking the long scenic way home.” Dr. Bartholomew also enjoys speaking at other churches, women’s events, and local Celebrate Recovery ministries.
